Under the supervision of an associate architect, the architect conceptualizes, plans, and develops architectural designs and detailed specifications for the construction and renovation of residential, institutional, industrial, and commercial buildings.
Primary responsibilities
Conceptualize and design buildings, and create architectural plans and detailed specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.
Prepare sketches and models for clients.
Prepare drawings, specifications, and other architectural documents for contractors and tradespeople, and oversee their execution to ensure compliance with the design intent.
Prepare tender documents, participate in contract negotiations, and award certain construction contracts based on the established criteria.
Monitor activities on construction sites to ensure that the work is carried out according to the architectural plans and specifications.
Conduct feasibility studies and financial analyses for construction projects upon request.
Perform any other tasks requested by supervisors that are related to architecture.
Requirements
Hold a master's degree from a recognized school of architecture.
Have completed a three-year training internship (5,600 hours) under the guidance of a registered architect.
Have passed the admission examination for architects.
Be affiliated with the Association of Private Practice Architects of Quebec or the Order of Architects of Quebec.
Enjoy writing, communicating, and informing.
Creativity and imagination.
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Word, and Excel, and familiarity with the Windows environment.
